Kerrie Anne's vocals reach out of the speakers to pull at those heartstrings yet again!
“Pictures is a small collection of songs from movie musicals and is dedicated to the people in my photos (my family and friends). I hope you like it” - Kerrie Anne.
“Ever since I can remember I have wanted to record an album, I had no idea what I wanted to record, but I imagined it being songs from many genres. I feel so lucky that my dream has actually come true.” Kerrie Anne has been singing since before she could talk, so her parents tell her, and spent countless hours putting tracks down on her cassette recorder as a child.
The tracks include ‘Run To You’ from The Bodyguard, ‘On My Own’ from Les Miserables, ‘Once Upon A Dream’ from Sleeping Beauty (sung with Daniel Belle), ‘The Man That Got Away’ from A Star Is Born and ‘Let It Go’ from Frozen.
“All of these songs are like snapshots of my life. I watched Sleeping Beauty so many times as a kid on VHS that I wore out the tape, and Whitney was pretty much all I sang in my teens, Judy Garland is my hero from the first time I saw her and ever since I can remember I have dreamed of being a Disney Princess (or in the case of Frozen, a Queen). And Les Miserables was my first professional show and such an amazing experience. So the title Pictures has multiple meanings for me.”
Pictures is an album of songs from many genres all coming from movie musicals, from the pop sensation that was The Bodyguard, to the jazz standard from A Star Is Born, to modern Disney’s Frozen, Kerrie Anne effortlessly soars in each song arranged by the musical genius Steven Baker.
“I approached Baker about being involved in my little project back in 2015 and couldn’t believe when he actually agreed to write the arrangements. He was so intuitive, the first draft of each song was pretty much exactly what I had imagined. He then ran the orchestra session via Skype from London with the City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra, which I sat watching via live stream while on tour with Les Mis Oz in Brisbane!”
When photographer Dylan Evans came onboard to shoot the album cover Kerrie Anne’s dream for Pictures grew beyond her belief, he offered to film a video clip of Kerrie Anne’s version of ‘Run To You’. Designer Gwendolynne Burkin dressed Kerrie Anne for the film and director Victor Conde helped bring the clip to life.
Pictures is sure to have you pressing repeat again and again!
